Energy research for practical applications
The BINE Information Service reports on energy research topics, such as new materials, systems and components, as well as innovative concepts and methods. The knowledge gained is incorporated into the implementation of new technologies in practice, because first-rate information provides a basis for pioneering decisions, whether in the planning of energy-optimised buildings, increasing the efficiency of industrial processes, or integrating renewable energy sources into existing systems.
Transferring information from research to practice
The task of the BINE Information Service is to support the transfer of knowledge and information from energy research to practical application. To this end, BINE is sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.
Within the German Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology is responsible for energy policy, while the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety is responsible for introducing renewable energy sources to the market and for project-oriented energy research in the field of renewable energy sources. Also in this regard, the BINE Information Service transfers information from research to practice. Within the scope of their respective responsibilities, these two ministries support research and development work conducted by companies, research institutes and universities. The current focal areas of energy research are described in the 5th Energy Research Programme.

Research management and information management
Expert knowledge of research management is essential in order to ensure that public subsidy programmes achieve their objectives, industrial partners and research institutes work together profitably and researchers are well informed of subsidy options in their field of work. In this regard, Project Management Jülich performs important consultation and coordination tasks on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, in addition to assisting with the analysis of research activities' results. The BINE Information Service's information strategy and focal areas of communication are planned in close cooperation with Project Management Jülich.
The company: competence in expert information
